About Lucton School

Lucton School

Small classes, talented and committed teachers, a friendly atmosphere and a safe rural location contribute to an outstanding, all-round experience at Lucton School. An Oxford University admissions tutor commented that the typical thing about Lucton students is that there is no typical student – they are very much individuals! What they do have in common is they leave us confident in their abilities and strengths, ready to embrace opportunities. Students achieve excellent results at A-level and GCSE securing an impressive range of university places.

Lucton School is also proud of its remarkable added-value scores. A safe and secure location Founded in 1708, Lucton is set in 55 acres of beautiful Herefordshire countryside. There is a mix of day pupils, weekly boarders and full boarders. Many team and individual sports are offered and boarders enjoy a wealth of weekend activities – sporting, cultural, social and good fun -included in the fees. Senior boarders have individual rooms – juniors prefer to share -pastoral care at Lucton is second to none. There are free airport buses at the beginning and end of term.

Boarding at Lucton School

Boarding is central to life at Lucton School and boarders live in two boarding houses at the heart of the school. Live-in houseparents have their own children at the school and there is a very real family atmosphere within the boarding community.

Boarders have their own bedroom, although the younger pupils have the opportunity to share. It is a sociable house and boarders can relax at the end of the day in a range of common rooms where they can watch TV, use the play station and computers or chat in the newly-refurbished café where they can prepare simple snacks and drinks.

The weekends are an action-packed affair! Boarders enjoy a varied and interesting programme of activities. There are regular visits to larger cities for shopping and cultural experiences as well as an extensive list of outdoor activities including paintballing, kayaking, theme parks, high ropes, mountain biking, quad-biking, ice-skating and trips to special events like major sports matches, concerts and theatre visits.
