About Sidcot School

Sidcot School

Founded in 1699, Sidcot School is a thriving co-educational British boarding and day school situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Somerset, close to Bristol and Bath and only a two-hour train ride from London.

In this setting, students can enjoy the best of both rural and city life: a peaceful environment in which to concentrate on their studies, and access to the cities for educational opportunities and weekend activities.

Boarding at Sidcot School

When students board at Sidcot they join a friendly, family community in which they can live, work and play, secure in the knowledge that they are valued and well cared for. Boarding provides students with the space to focus on their work, whilst also giving them the chance to get involved in a wide range of extra-curricular activities that might not be practical whilst living at home.

As well as full boarding, options for both weekly and flexi-boarding may be available. Recognising the changing needs of families, our approach to boarding is flexible. Whilst the majority of our boarders are full time, we are happy to discuss other options to meet particular needs.

The Arts centre is a work of art in itself, beautifully designed and buzzing with creative energy. It has been awarded Artsmark Gold in recognition of its beacon status. Arts are a very popular choice with students gaining impressive results.

There is plenty on offer outside the curriculum including music lessons, bands, choirs, theatre & music productions. Sidcot has a traveling theatre company ‘Hurly Burly’ which wowed audiences and gained four star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Academies Offered

Sidcot students get excellent results – typically over half of students go to Russell Group Universities. Sidcot offers A-level, IB Diploma, a 2-year GCSE programme and a one-year course. Sidcot has an outstanding reputation in creative arts, sciences and maths with results that outstrip national and world averages.

Sidcot’s teaching methods are designed to harness children’s natural intellectual curiosity and encourage independent thinking and creativity rather than just train them to pass tests.
